When Your Shhh's Become Shhhit's

Apparently my enthusiam from my last post was a bit premature. Arden did well that one night, terribly the next night, somewhat better the night after that, and then awful last night. I'm so tired my eyes are red and I can't comfortably wear my contacts. I try to sleep when he takes naps and do some, but even that sleep gets interrupted trying to keep Arden asleep. I'm trying to be patient and have been for the most part, but there are definitely some nights when I'm shhing him and he's quiet and I start to walk away but he starts crying again that my shh's definitely turn into shits (in the most loving tone, of course, so that he can't tell what I'm saying). William has found himself doing the same thing and it has become quite the joke around here lately.
.
To make matters even more fun today, during Arden's nap this morning, our lesbian neighbors downstairs decided it was the appropriate time to break up because one of them had cheated (possibly with a male!), and it just so happened to be their one year anniversary. How do I know all of these details you may ask? Well, we got to hear the whole argument and then some - "Happy Fing Anniversary to you, B*tch...etc." - you know, the sort of stuff that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside while your baby is trying to sleep. Not only that, but we also got to FEEL the argument with the slamming of the doors that shook our entire apartment and made Molly Bear go nuts because she thought it was thunder. I, who was also trying to nap, but was so rudely interrupted by the noise and by Molly Bear jumping up on me on the couch, eventually went out and asked them to stop slamming the door since I had a baby up here trying to sleep (not to mention a mom trying to do the same). This helped for maybe a minute before they started up again. I mean really, how many times do you have to slam the door to get your point across? Just slam it and leave already like you keep threatening to do! I was on the verge of calling the cops (after calling William and asking if I was supposed to just call 911 or just call the police dept - yeah I'm retarded) when one of the girls finally left and things were quiet again. SO anyway, all of that to say, we're a bit tired! We're making it though and I know, eventually, I'll sleep again.
.
You know you're tired when...
- Your shh's to calm you sweet, almost sleeping baby turn into shit's when he makes a peep
-Your eyes are all bloodshot and you can't wear your contacts with any lights on
- The thought of getting dressed for the day doesn't even enter your mind...you'd rather stick to sweats and not put forth the effort to dry your hair and put on make up
- You try to read books on how to help your baby sleep more, but can't keep your eyes open to do so
- You can't even finish this blog post because you're too tired to think straight.

Aww...I'm sorry. I won't give you any advice, because I don't have much in that area....but I'm really sorry. I hope you get sleep soon. By the way, thanks for your input on What NOT to say. Pretty funny stuff.

I know how you feel. Even though Caleb's a pretty good sleeper, I've had many similar occasions. It'll get better ... I hope :)

Chris got the book "On Becoming Babywise" to help us institute good sleeping habits early. I can't tell you if it works or not b/c Amelia has "lap colic" as the doctor calls it...she has to be held to stay asleep.
