do not disturb
So, I returned to work today after my 3 week hiatus. It was easy to go in to work because I was already awake! At about 12 am Arden realized I was returning to work in the morning and started crying pretty much non-stop. Perhaps it was intermittent, but as far as I was concerned, it was non-stop. I think he only slept a total of two hours last night - and of course, I about the same. I was eager to have my highly anticipated white mocha to start the day, but if you didn't notice, Arden (and mother) were finally asleep at about 6:45 just as I was getting my day started. This unforutnately means that I couldn't run the coffee grinder as it would be sure to disturb their much needed slumber. And off I was on my merry way to work. The day at work was ok aside from the fact that they are now holding morning meetings a half hour earlier and asking us to work extra hours and weekends (all of which I was already doing except for the weekends - its just different when they ask you to) to stay on the schedule that they decided to cut in half from the engineering estimate. I returned home at a regular time today (they'll understand I'm sure) only to find an impressive 1/2" thick layer of ice inside the air conditioner. Thankfully, it didn't reach the forecast 95 degrees outside today and it was only 83 in the un-air-conditioned apartment - BLAZING compared to our normal 70-75. I proceeded to thaw the air-conditioner with a hair dryer, remove the filthy filter, vacuum all the soot out of the cooling fins, and seal everything back up. So far so good. Arden is sleeping and I'm going to bed.
