This weekend was a busy weekend for us. Friday night we went to Susan's birthday party at Amanda Ford's house in Santa Clarita (about 30 minutes away). Our friends, Anna and David, rode with us and we had a great time. We didn't get home until about 1 am which was pretty late for the little mister and for his parents too! We "slept in" on Saturday (aka took turns taking care of Arden so the other one could sleep a little) before getting up and getting ready for the Mississippi Picnic in LA. We went to this picnic last year, but this year, some new people had taken over directing it and it was much more fun! Last year consisted of a potluck lunch with some elderly Mississipians and some watered down sweet tea. This year everything was catered and there were several bands and musicians from Mississippi playing music throughout the afternoon and evening. We got there around 3:30 and got our catfish and ribs and McAlister's sweet tea and Magnolia beer and set up our picnic blanket for an afternoon of chilling and being outside. A guy that William went to State with, Justin, moved out here about 6 months ago, and he came to the picnic too, so William got to hang out with a buddy for the afternoon as well. The food was yummy and the music was pretty entertaining. Arden liked being outside too, and even though the music was loud, he still managed to get a couple of naps in in the stroller! The only downside was me having to nurse Arden in public, which I am most definitely not a fan of! However, when we first got there I saw another mother doing the same so I didn't feel quite as awkward and managed to hide myself pretty well with the stroller and some blankets. After the picnic was over, we went to BJ's for dessert and to hang out with Justin a little longer. We got home around 10 and managed to give Arden a bottle while changing him, giving him a bath, putting his jammies and diaper on and rocking him all before he finished it. Quite impressive! Something we did worked because he slept almost 7 hours last night! Today we slept in as best as we could and then listened to a Ricky Jones sermon online. We're still working on getting to church with Arden since he's still so distracting during the service. Hopefully we'll get back into the swing of things soon and will be able to make it more regularly again! Here are a couple of pics from the weekend:September 13, 2009
