Thanksgiving

Well...Thanksgiving was a success! Greg and Michelle (William's sister and brother-in-law) got here on Tuesday night with their two dogs in time for dinner and a little visiting before William had to go to bed to get up for work. Wednesday Greg, Michelle, and I took it easy getting ready in the morning and then ran a few errands around town while William was at work. We went to Target, Walmart, PetSmart, and Blockbuster...you know...the usual errands. We stopped by William's work so that he could give them a tour around the facility. We had made plans to go see a silent movie with one of our friends, but when we made it back to the apartment, Greg threw up and Michelle started running a fever and had sharp pains in her abdomen. So, when William got home, it was as if everyone was falling apart. Needless to say, we didn't make it to the movie. Instead, Greg took Michelle to the emergency room. Turns out...she had a urinary tract infection turned into a severe kidney infection. She was but on an antibiotic drip and had to stay at the hospital for a couple of hours. While they were at the hospital, William and I decided to walk the dogs. No big deal except for the fact that he locked us out of the apartment with no keys or cards to try to get in! We called Greg and had him bring us a credit card to card the door to get back in. It's always an adventure!! Well Michelle is still getting better, but nothing too serious. I have actually been feeling really well and was able to prepare all of the Thanksgiving food by myself on Wednesday and last minute things on Thursday.

Thursday we took it easy during the day just watching movies and hanging out around the apartment. Our friends Dallas and Courtney came over with their daughter Phoenix for Thanksgiving dinner. My turkey was a success and everything worked out well too! We had turkey, sweet potatoe casserole, dressing, green beans, french bread, and chocolate meringue pie. Courtney brought a pecan pie for dessert too. It was all really yummy and we were all really full by the time dinner was over.

Friday we went to the Getty Center which is a big art collection of J. Paul Getty. There are five different buildings filled with artwork and we only made it through one building before I got hungry and Michelle got tired. So after that we went to dinner at BJ's Restaurant and Brewery for pizza and beer (not me of course). Then we went to Dimiples, the karaoke bar so Greg and Michelle could enjoy the experience. We all chose songs to sing and we were all quite good! William and I sang a duet of Shania Twain's From this Moment. It was beautiful.

Today we met one of Greg's friends from college for lunch and then hung out with him at Starbuck's for a little while just to visit. Then we met our friend Zack to go to the Griffith Observatory. We didn't last too long because we were tired and there were too many people there to enjoy it, but we did get to see the Hollywood sign! After that we drove to Rodeo drive to see the Christmas lights.

We've had a great time with them here visiting and will be sad to see them go, but I am looking forward to being in Memphis in less than two weeks!
