Mr. Coe Comes to Town

Last night we got to have dinner with Mr. Coe (my friend Lindsey Coe Hughes' dad) here in Simi. He was here for a business trip and after a confusing text message, we had plans to go to dinner. He texted me about a week ago saying congratulations to us and that he was going to be in Simi and wanted to take us out to dinner...well that sounds wonderful, but one problem...I had no idea who it was! After clearing that up and figuring out who wanted to take us out to dinner, we made plans to go out last night. He picked us up at our apartment and we proceeded to drive around to figure out where we wanted to eat. We had a couple of options in mind, but nothing we were dead set on. I think I've mentioned it before, but I'll mention it again anyway....the restaurants here suck. There is nothing that is like a good, local place to take people wanting a California experience. Everything is a chain and none of it is entirely reliable as far as whether or not it will be good everytime you go. So all of that to say, we ended up going to Macaroni Grill. It's one of my favorites back home, so it may as well be a favorite out here. We had a great time at dinner and got some advice on the housing market and such from Mr. Coe. He bought our meal which was very kind of him. Our meal was delicious of course! Afterwards we took him back to our apartment and showed him around and visited for a little while longer before he had to get back to the hotel to get some work done. It was a great night and it was so good to see a familiar face and spend time with someone from back home. Even though he didn't stay with us, he was officially our first visitor from home! So.....who's next?!
