Home, Sweet Home....Almost

We have made our final decision on an apartment and will be moving in September 19th. We still have several more nights in the hotel, but it is so good to know that the end is clearly in sight. We did end up settling on the Creekside Apartments. We originally thought we would have a downstairs unit, but after meeting with the lady yesterday, we decided on an upstairs unit. After the pain of moving in, I think we will like being upstairs. It has vaulted ceilings in the living room and one of the bedrooms which helps make it feel a little more open than a downstairs unit. The unit is being completely renovated as I type this, so we will be the first people to live in it after the renovation. We will have two bedrooms and two bathrooms.....perfect for guests who come visit!! (hint, hint, wink, wink!) So we are definitely glad the apartment hunt is over. 

We are making some progress on making a home here in Simi Valley. We've gotten a new bank, found a home and started to figure out which grocery store we like the best with the best prices. Now that we'll have an address, we'll be able to get California driver's licenses and tags and insurance and all that stuff that you need an address to get. I must say, I'm not quite as depressed about getting California tags as I was when I had to change from Tennessee to Mississippi ones. At least California is cool and known for more than being the fattest state in the nation! (Now don't get me wrong..I still terribly miss all of our friends in Mississippi...just don't really miss the state!)

I'm starting to get really stir crazy sitting in the hotel all day, everyday by myself. I still don't have a car so I can't go anywhere, and it is getting really old. I am definitely looking forward to having something to do as far as moving into the apartment and making it into our home. 

William is enjoying his job still and is figuring out more and more what he is supposed to be doing. We got a pleasant surprise yesterday that we had completely forgotten about...William's signing bonus! The HR lady called him while we were out finalizing the apartment and stuff, and asked if he wanted to come pick it up...well yeah! We definitely high fived in the middle of a grocery store due to the excitement over having some money that we'd totally forgotten we would get! 

That's about all that is going on for now. I'm sorry I haven't been calling people to keep you updated, but for now it's not the easiest to be reminded of who and what we're missing out on back home and it's rare that I make it through a phone call without tearing up...but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you, and I will call people soon!
