Yesterday we drove down to Santa Barbara with our friend, Amanda, for a 5k race. Amanda and I are training for the 1/2 marathon together and wanted to do a short race for fun as part of our training. We found this one in Santa Barbara called Nite Moves. Every Wednesday from May 5th until September something there is a 5k race, biathalon, and a fun run. We thought we'd try it out and were sure glad that we did. The course was right along the beach overlooking the ocean and sunset. It was an out and back course with the out part being all uphill (boo) and the back being downhill (yay). Before we started I had 2 goals in mind. I wanted to finish the whole thing without stopping - which I knew I could do because I had run 5 miles last Saturday and a 5k is only 3.1 - and I wanted to finish in 30 minutes or less. Well, my time was 30 mins 14 secs and I couldn't be happier. I was quite proud of myself for accomplishing these goals and am excited to keep going and see what I can do at the 1/2 marathon. I pushed myself a little too hard on the way up which caused me to get side stitches on the way down, but I pushed through them and kept going. William did the race too, pushing Arden in the stroller, and finished at 31 mins 6 secs. A close race, but I win! (Even though William said that he thought about trying to speed up and beat me, I'm glad he let me win since I'm the one that's been doing all the training). After the race we hung out by the beach a little bit and listened to some music before heading out to find something to eat for dinner. We stopped at Rusty's Pizza Parlor in Santa Barbara on our way out of town for a yummy veggie pizza.

2 legit runners right there!
