Happy Birthday Dear Arden

Well, we've made it 2 years as parents and everyone has survived! Thursday Arden turned 2, so naturally it was a special day! We had pancakes for breakfast and then went for a walk, which has starts asking to do as soon as he wakes up every day. We just played around the house for the morning before I went to a workout class. We had chocolate chip cookies after lunch as a special birthday treat. After nap time, though, the real fun began! Daddy came home with some balloons and water guns as a special surprise. Once we had eaten dinner we headed out for some frozen yogurt and play time at the park. We played for a while at the park before we went to pick up Arden's new "cycle"! We found a great tricycle on craigslist so we went by to get it before heading home. He was SO excited and couldn't wait to take it for a spin. He can't quite reach the pedals, but he loves pushing it around and being pushed on it (it has a removeable handle for adults to push until the kids can ride independently). He rode up and down the drive of our complex several times and had to be forced to come inside for a bath and bed time. I think it was a pretty special day for 2 year old!

Friday we had made plans with one of William's co-workers, Julie, to go over to her house to ride her pony as a continuation of the birthday celebration. Arden had a BLAST! We fed the 2 horses and goats and pony some watermelon and petted them for a little while just to get acquainted. Then we grabbed the camera and a couple of beers and hit the "trail." Arden rode the pony all around the neighborhood like a champ. We weren't sure how he would respond, but he loved riding the "horse" and only got scared for about 30 seconds when the pony "blew his nose." When we were done he wanted to do it again and again. We had dinner at Julie's house with her and her son, Shane. We hung out for a long time on their patio and around their house after dinner. Arden got to play some drums and a guitar and played with their dogs and petted the goats a couple more times before we had to head home. It's been a fun two days celebrating the birthday boy and I look forward to many more birthdays to come!

LOVE it!! What a great "cycle"! I already had the Easter picture as my new desktop, but now I may have to put another one up. Glad to see Arden's following in pop's footsteps as a drummer, and Uncle Stevie's as a guitarist! Love yall!
