This is a little late, but most of you probably got this in the mail weeks ago...for those of you who didn't, we hope you had a Merry Christmas! Here's what you missed:
Season’s Greetings!
We hope that you are doing well this Holiday season. We are looking forward to spending Christmas with our families and hope that you are able to do the same. We have been really busy this year, and have been blessed beyond measure with what the Lord has done in our lives in 2010.
In February, William was ordained as a deacon in our church, Valley Presbyterian. He has been blessed by this position and is enjoying finding new ways to encourage the church members to be more involved. He is still working at AeroVironment and is enjoying his work, boss, and co-workers. In September, we spent several weeks in Lancaster (aka the desert) while he was working out of Edwards Airforce base. It was an experience, to say the least, but we survived living in a hotel, in the desert, with a dog and a toddler. He is blessed to still have his position because earlier this year there were several layoffs from his project. We are thankful that his bosses appreciate him and know what a catch they have. *wink* When he is not at work, he is always glad to be at home with our family. He loves playing and helping out with Arden. He is such a great dad and it is fun to see their relationship growing already. (Arden’s love for airplanes may or may not have some part in that growth, ha!)
Arden has gone from being an infant to being a full on toddler. He has grown so much this year, that it is hard to believe it has only been a year! We celebrated his first birthday in Memphis with my family. He started walking just a couple of weeks after his first birthday and hasn’t stopped since! He is learning new words and skills every day and it’s so fun to see him growing and learning all the time. He has such a sweet spirit and is really social. He says “hi” to any child that he sees and is always willing to give out hugs to anyone who asks. He loves Molly Bear aka “Baahh-yee” (as he calls her) and is always loving on her and giving her treats.
In October we closed on our first home! We started looking (on somewhat of a whim) in July and had found and closed on our home by October. It was a fast process, but we are so happy with it. It is a two-story townhome with 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and a garage!! We are enjoying it a lot more than we even anticipated, and we are blessed to be able to call it our own.
I have been busy being a mom and wife. I have enjoyed decorating and cleaning our new home, spending time with Arden every day, and working out. Sometimes I still can’t believe that I am a mom, but it’s been an adventure for sure. Yes, there are definitely challenging times, but it has been such a joy, that it is all worth it. I ran a half marathon in November that I had been training for all year. It was quite the accomplishment for non-athletic me! It was so fun and rewarding to do, and I hope to do one again! We became vegetarians in January, and I have enjoyed finding new things to try and to cook without meat. It’s been a great, healthy change for our family and we really haven’t missed meat at all. I haven’t done much photography other than taking pictures of Arden, but I still enjoy it and hope to use it one day when I’m not so busy with children.
Molly Bear is enjoying our new home and is always a sweet girl and easy going dog. She tolerates Arden and is a good “big sister.” She is always excited to see us and loves getting to go with us wherever she can.
Anyway, that is our year a nutshell…feel free to check out our blog: williamandlora.blogspot.com for more (somewhat) frequent updates on our life in California! We hope you have a Merry Christmas!
