William and I have been seeing these men sitting at trucks around town with signs that say "Fresh Oxnard Strawberries, Picked Today," and have been wanting to stop and get some, but we never have cash on us. Well, Saturday, we were going to get donuts for breakfast/lunch (we don't get up early enough to eat true breakfast) and we saw the man at his truck and decided we'd stop. We had already needed to go to the bank to get cash for the donuts, so we got enough to get strawberries too. We got this huge box of them for $13. It was the best $13 I think we've ever spent! We got home after smelling the wonderful aroma the entire ride home, washed some and cut them up to eat. I have never tasted anything so sweet and juicy and simply delightful in my life! Strawberries have been a staple in my diet since being pregnant because they just taste good to me and don't fill me up where I can't breathe, so I had been going to the grocery about every other day to get a new carton. Well after eating strawberries almost all day on Saturday, we've still got plenty left to last at least a couple more days! From now on, we have decided that we will get fresh picked strawberries whenever we can because store bought ones (from CA too, mind you) don't even come close! Yum!
Clarification from Last Post:
William brought to my attention in my last post that it sounded as though I was disappointed in our Simi Valley experience and that I had a whole list of reasons why. Well, I just wanted to clarify that I am not disappointed in Simi Valley, I simply meant I was disappointed in my Simi Valley HAIRCUT experience thus far and that I had a list of reasons why I miss Starkville, which now includes Tokros!
