Flying, Fixin', and Fun!

While we're playing the waiting game with this baby, we've been filling our time with lots of fun activities. A couple weeks ago William took the boys to an air show to see the US Navy Blue Angels fly. It was an all day adventure and I'm pretty sure all three boys had a blast. I'm not sure who was more excited - William or the boys! I enjoyed a leisurely day at home by myself and was able to get some preparations for the baby done without any little helpers around. That night, some of my friends took me out to dinner to celebrate Baby #3. It was a fun day all around!

After it was over, they were able to meet all the pilots and get their autographs. They also both got a Blue Angel plane and t-shirt.

I've been trying to come up with activities to entertain the boys that don't involve a lot of moving around on my part but is entertaining to them. It's not always easy, but we've had some fun. We had some cardboard boxes from a new dresser we bought, so I thought we could put them to use! First we got out the paints and painted all over one of them. Then I had the idea to use saws and hammers and nails to do a little construction work on the cardboard. This was a huge hit! Arden sawed for hours and wanted to do it again the next day! And yes, I gave my 2 and 4 year olds real hack saws and real nails and hammers. Either I'm really cool or really dumb! Your call.

Today we went to a play day at our "school" where the only instructions were to "dress for a mess." There were all sorts of little stations set up for the kids to explore and get messy and just have a good time. There were bubbles and paints and sand and dirt and shaving cream and balls and a parachute and all sorts of things. The boys had a great time getting dirty and playing with some friends.

Porter requested I paint his face like Cat in the Hat and this was the result. Ha. The eyebrows kill me.

I've been trying to get things ready for the baby and have been "nesting" the past couple of weeks. One of my unnecessary, but fun projects that I just finished was my broken mirror art for our living room. I had been planning this project for our dining room in our town home, but never made time to work on it. However, after rearranging some pictures, I needed something for above our couch in our living room and decided now was as good of time as any to finally make this project happen! I worked on it for about a week whenever I had a free moment and I'm really happy with how it turned out! It was like doing a really big jigsaw puzzle.

William and I went on one last date night the other night and enjoyed dinner and a movie. I've gotten all the baby gear and clothes and diapers and beds all set up. I've stocked up my post-partum survival kit. I've pre-registered at the hospital. I've cleaned out the cars and more.  Other than that, we've just been hanging around the house, had a few friends over to play, and have been trying to stay sane and comfortable while we wait for baby brother to get here!
