Happy Birthday Dear Porter!

Porter is 2. My baby boy is 2 years old....can you believe it?! He's getting too big, too fast, but that's another story. We just celebrated his birthday last week and had a great time doing it! We went to Memphis for a visit (which I'll post about soon) and while we were there we had a little family celebration. The fam and Mimi, and Leah and Chaney and Addie all came over to party. A couple of friends came too, which is always fun! We had cupcakes and ice cream and snacks and opened a few presents and played....you know, the typical two year old family party!

 Big Wheel!

On his actual birthday, William took off work so that we could spend the day as a family. We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast, opened presents, and then went to the LA Zoo.

New Trains!

The boys had a great time seeing all of the animals, running around, and riding the carousel. William and I have decided that most zoos are not well planned for pedestrians and someone should think about that when making zoo maps, but that's another story for another day.

Didn't want to leave his new train/track at home, so we took it to the zoo!

After the zoo, we came home for naps. Porter got a new train and some new parts to the train track, so after naps the boys played trains. After that, while Arden and I decorated Porter's yellow train cake, William took Porter on a special birthday outing to the book store to pick out something new. He came back home with some new books and a new toy bus. It was good for him to have some special one on one time with Daddy.

Trying to decide which new toy to get!

We went out for sushi for dinner, which is Porter's favorite meal - yes, it's hilarious that our 2 year old loves sushi. Then, we came home for cake and ice cream that we shared with our neighbors just for fun. It was a great day and we had fun celebrating our sweet, growing boy!
He requested a yellow choo choo cake. This is what I made. Apparently I just can't get Porter's cakes to turn out that great. Last year, I made a "1" cake, except I cut it backwards. Fail. Twice.

At 2 Porter is learning new things all the time. Everything is still typically "this" which is his universal word for all things (including people). He is learning new words all the time though, and enjoys practicing them for us. He adores his big brother and imitates everything that he does. He is really funny and thinks so himself, which he demonstrates by laughing at himself a lot. He is officially out of his crib thanks to his new found skill of climbing out of it. He loves "choo choos". His color word for everything is orange - and sometimes yellow. He loves play-doh, airplanes, snuggling, "rock rock"-ing, taking baths, his "bubba" (Arden), yogurt, jumping, hiding (not my favorite skill), babies, "Meen" aka Lightning McQueen, "wish" - fish, reading books, playing with toys, doing puzzles, and his Mama. He is a very sweet and gentle boy and is usually pretty compliant and easy going. We have loved getting to know him and watching him grow these past 2 years and look forward to many, many more! Happy Birthday Dear Porter, Happy Birthday to you!
