Last week we took our trip to San Diego. Arden, Porter and I drove down on Wednesday afternoon, and although it rained the entire trip, we never had to stop, so the boys took pretty good naps in the car. Although it is only a 2 hour and 45 minute trip, it took about 4 hours to finally get there because of stinking traffic, but we made it safely and were very glad to see Daddy waiting for us when we arrived. We stayed at the Ramada in the Gas Lamp District. It is an old hotel with many old features, including elevators from 1913! It was pretty neat. Anyway, we arrived, got settled into our hotel, exchanged Valentine gifts and then went to dinner. One of our favorite spots is Sammy's Woodfire Pizza, so naturally, we had planned to have dinner there. We enjoyed a couple of yummy pizzas and then went to Ghirardelli's Ice Cream shop for a sundae. We were able to walk everywhere from our hotel which made for some extra excitement. We got back to the hotel and got the boys settled in to bed and were able to hang out for a little while before going to bed. It was so good to be back together again. I tell you what, 3 nights as a single mom really makes you miss your husband even more so than normal! We got up really early on Thursday (thanks to the boys!) and after getting dressed and getting all of our things together, had a nice breakfast together at the restaurant connected to the hotel. After breakfast, we headed to the zoo! We spent several hours there making sure that we didn't miss any of the animals! According to Arden, the giraffes were the best ones we saw that day! Seeing a zebra go tee tee, hearing a tiger roar, and giving tours to people at the elephants was pretty exciting as well! After the zoo, we had lunch at Fred's Mexican cafe before making the trek back home. It was a great little trip and I'm pretty sure that a good time was had by all!
