Saturdays

Happy Valentine's Day! Will you be my valentine?!

We have had several fun Saturdays the past few weeks, so I thought I'd tell you about what all we've done! I love Saturdays - always have and probably always will. It's just fun to have everybody home and to have an entire day that you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. We have been trying to make a point to get out and do something at least once each weekend so that we don't just sit around and waste the day. Arden is at a fun age where he actually enjoys the outings, so it's been fun for the whole fam! A few weeks ago we went to the train museum at Griffith Park. It is free and open all the time, so we thought we'd check it out. There are tons of big "choo choos" to look at and climb on. We also got to ride on a little train around the park. Arden loves anything and everything that goes and trains are no exception, so he was thrilled to run around on the tracks and see all the trains. It was definitely a good choice for a 1 and 1/2 year old boy!

The next Saturday we went to Owen's 2nd birthday party! It was at Lemon Park (one of our faves). They had pizza and cupcakes and everyone just ran around and played on the playground and saw the ducks in the fountain and just had a blast in general. That afternoon, our friends, Justin and Becky, came back to our house to keep Arden while William and I went on a date! We went to play putt-putt and ride go karts and bumpers cars. We hung out with Justin and Becky when we got back and enjoyed dinner together. That was a fun Saturday!

Sharing birthday cups with the birthday boy!

The next Saturday we went hiking in Simi. We attempted to do a trail (White Face) that turned out to be entirely too steep and rocky and scary for us to do with Arden and Molly, so after I had a panic attack while feeling like I was going to fall off the mountain, we turned around and opted for a much calmer trail (Big Sky). We hiked a little ways, played in some water, hiked some more and then turned around and headed home. Arden LOVES water and is always looking for any chance he can get to get wet, so the water on the trail was definite motivation to keep on moving!

This past Saturday we went to the beach! We kept saying we should go, but we finally made it and will definitely be going more frequently. Arden had a blast! Of course he did, there was a TON of water there! He was a little hesitant at first about letting the water touch him, but once he got comfortable, he loved it. He also loved playing in the sand and being buried alive by Daddy...he literally laughed the entire time that William was coving him with sand. It was hilarious. We had a picnic lunch on the beach before heading home for nap time. The weather was perfect and we look forward to going back really soon!

Fun stuff! We're going to have to check out that train museum. And I'm glad to hear you've already made a beach trip. I'm excited to start going again.

22 days Boogs! You better not get buried in any more sand so that you can see us when we come!

I bet even Pop and Uncle Stevie would like the beach if ARDEN was there too!!! What a fun day!

Watched the video again and truly can't imagine anything worse than being buried alive in sticky sand and someone tickling my feet. That must be what hell is like...
