Where did I leave off? So after Arden's birthday, we got back home and settled back into somewhat of a routine. I was super busy for a couple of weeks editing the wedding photos that I had taken. Those weeks are a blur since I was working any spare moment that I had, and then some. July 4th was pretty fun. We went on a picnic with our friends, Jason and Beth Petterson. Jason is the assistant pastoral intern at our church right now and we have enjoyed getting to know them. The first time we hung out with them we talked about farts. From then on, I knew it was going to be a great friendship! Anyway, we went on a picnic (dressed in our patriotic clothes, of course) and then came back home for homemade ice cream. Once it was dark, we went to the ranch where the Ashtons live to watch the fireworks over Simi Valley. It was a great day and I hate I didn't get any pics!
.
The next weekend we went on a little adventure of our own. We drove about 2 hours to a little town called Solvang. It is a Danish community in California with all sorts of neat little shops and restaurants. There are a few windmills around and an old Mission. We just walked around, got some lunch, played in the park, walked around the Mission, and just hung out for the day. We thought really seriously about getting Arden a little yodelling outfit (I don't know what they're really called, but you can picture it - think The Sound of Music), but decided against spending $50 for a good laugh. We did however get a pic in the big clog that was randomly on the sidewalk. It was a fun day and good to get out and about.
The clog.
I think this means not to go in the tent. Clearly not written by someone who speaks English well.
There was a wedding going on at the Mission and these were the getaway cars. Hilarious. Like Pedro's cousins in Napoleon Dynamite.
The next weekend was my birthday! It was on a Sunday, so we celebrated the night before. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner and then came home to watch a movie. We went to church on Sunday and then to a little party that our friends were having. It was so nice of them to throw a party on my birthday! Ha. We also had the VBS kick-off that night, so we went to that after the party. It was a great weekend and so fun to finally turn 21!
.
The week following my birthday was VBS. I was the teacher for 1st and 2nd graders. It was a fun group of kids and I really enjoyed cheesing up the space theme for the week - always calling the kids astronauts and making them salute me at any chance I got. It was at night so William stayed home with Arden while I went to the church each night until Friday when they both joined me for the finale.
.
Since VBS, we have just been doing our thing. We are in the process of looking for a new home and have been out viewing properties with our realtor and such. So we'll keep you posted on that and any more upcoming events we may have! Sorry for the lack of pics. More to come soon!

Lederhosen...you should've had him "try them on" in the store and take some pics that way. I know I would've gotten a good laugh out of it.
How appropriate that Arden should have his picture taken in a SHOE!! What else. After all, he is related to some major shoe-lovers!
